Hurricanes Survivable Homes
Adapting to climate change will require a commitment at every level of the community to be able to afford and implement a survivable environment. Hurricane Survivable building materials and techniques need to become the standard for construction in coastal US and Caribbean communities. Category 5 hurricanes are likely to become the new normal. This will not only change the way we build structures it will challenge us to reconsider how we power them. Moving to energy efficiency structures with decentralized electricity generation and onsite emergency water storage mitigates the volume of damage sustained, the recovery time involved and the crisis of mass evacuations leaving and returning.
